Dr. Anish Sayani teaches in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. He has taught K-12 and adult education in British Columbia and Texas for over 30 years. Anish’s research interests include: teacher education, inclusive leadership in education, and narrative inquiry.

Anne Phelan  EDST 401 Education, School, and Social Institutions.

Anne is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy and has played a critical role in CITE for many years (for example, as an instructor and also as a coordinator).

 

Andrea Webb

Andrea has been an instructor in Social Studies at UBC for 10 years
following a decade as a classroom teacher in Burnaby.

 

Sandra Scott

EDCP 340 Science Education

Before joining UBC I was a classroom teacher and also worked as a marine educator and park naturalist.  My work focuses on elementary science, environmental education, and teacher education. I am a naturalist, scientist, and educator of, for, and in the environment and am a passionate advocate for learning experiences that nurture our sense of wonder for the human and more than human world. The storied lives of our Southern Resident Orca community guide all that I do in my teaching, research, and life!

 

Sam Rocha

Sam Rocha is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy of Education in the Department of Educational Studies at UBC.

 

Matthew Yanko

EDCP 308 Music Education

Matthew is an elementary school music specialist for the Burnaby School Board and a doctoral candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy. Inspired by the early childhood centers of Reggio Emilia, Matthew has adapted this approach to his elementary school music classroom, which has inspired the creation of a musical atelier for his students to participate in music making, learning, and inquiry.

Shannon Leddy

EDUC 440 Aboriginal Education in Canada

Shannon Leddy (Metis) is a Vancouver based writer and educator.  Her PhD research at Simon Fraser University focused on inviting pre-service teachers into dialogue with contemporary Indigenous art as a mechanism of decolonizing education and in order to help them become adept at delivering Indigenous education without reproducing colonial stereotypes.  She now holds a position in the Faculty of Education at UBC, and continues to focus on working with pre-service teachers in improving their practices in Indigenous education.  As a former high school art teacher, Shannon is particularly excited to be working with grunt gallery and to keeping her hand in the arts.
 

Surita Jhangiani

Surita is a lecturer in the Human Development, Learning and Culture program in the Department of Educational & Counselling Psychology & Special Education. Her scholarly interests include child and adolescent development, culture and diversity, and gender.

Tony Clarke EDUC 450 and EDUC 451 Inquiry Seminars

Tony is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at UBC. He was a classroom teacher for 12 years and has been working at UBC with the CITE cohort since its inception.
